Mission: To develop a vibrant, attractive resource centre for fulfilling various information needs on sports of employees/ coaches/ trainees/ research scholars at Head Office and also complete dissemination of physical and eResources to all interested library users in the least possibletime.

The Sports library was established in 1984 under Sports Authority of India, MYAS, GOI with the main objective to provide reading material on various sports disciplines. It was inaugurated by Hon’ble Rajiv Gandhi. Since then it has grown in size and resources to satisfy the need of its users. The Library being specialized one, falls in the category of Special/ technical library. The books in the library covers Sports as a main subject which includes: Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Chess, Cycling, Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Golf, Hockey, Handball, Judo, Lawn Tennis, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Olympic & Asian games etc. In addition to the major disciplines the Library also maintains well equipped sections on the Allied subjects such as: Biomechanics, Sports Medicine, Injuries, Physiology, Anthropometry, Kinesiology, Sports Psychology, Sports Nutrition, Sports Education Physical Fitness, Physical Education, Yoga, technical specifications and rules related to games etc.Read More

KHELO INDIA - National Programme for Development of Sports

The Khelo India programme has been introduced to revive the sports culture in India at the grass-root level by building a strong framework for all sports played in our country and establish India as a great sporting nation. Talented players identified in priority sports disciplines at various levels by the High-Powered Committee will be provided annual financial assistance of INR 5 lakh per annum for 8 years.
Khelo India School Games, which are a part of the Khelo India programme, are being held from 31st January to 8th February, 2018 in New Delhi. Under-17 athletes have been invited to participate across 16 disciplines, which are as follows: Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Shooting, Swimming, Volleyball, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.
